Ornellaia Bolgheri DOC Superiore, the representative wine of the producer, is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. First released in 1985, it comes from the 97ha that enjoys the perfect climate of the Bolgheri hills, with exposure to the sea.
The vines are cared for by hand all year round. When ripe (at full maturity), the grapes on each plot are harvested hand-picked into 15 kg crates. The bunches are then passed on a double sorting table where any imperfect grain is removed by hand, thus ensuring that only perfectly ripe grapes are vinified and matured. The resulting Ornellaia wine is released on the market after 3 years.
